BUDERUS THRUHARD SUPREME HIGH HARD

Buderus Thruhard Supreme is designed to offer increased wear resistance; higher thermal conductivity for reduced cycle times; greater texturing reliability and polishability; improved weldability; and enhanced machining characteristics over conventional P20 steel. Because of its consistent surface-to-core hardness, it can be supplied at higher hardness levels of 310–355 HB than a typical P20.

Characteristics
Recently developed plastic mold steel, distinguished from Holder and P20 grades by:

- Higher hardness and better through-hardenability
- Polishability up to 600 grit (high gloss finish reliability on request)
- Grain reliability even with sensitive etch-graining designs
- Improved weldability
- Higher thermal conductivity.

Nitrideable, hard chrome plateable, flame hardenable as delivered; its higher basic hardness provides better support for surface finishing (such as PVD coating).

Applications
Compression and injection molds to accommodate large dimensions such as bumpers, dashboards, chairs, garbage bins, bottle crates, television bezels, etc. Also in applications where high thermal conductivity is important.

Delivered condition:
High Hard: Quenched and tempered to 310–355 HB (approx. 1050–1200 MPa), (Surface hardness in Brinell, converted to DIN EN ISO 18265, Table A.1)
